It’s a brave new world

Can Danny really do it? I mean he did actually hypnotise his sister or did he? Was that just to make him sound cool?

Kyle’s friend Danny apparently hypnotised his sister. In this town that Kyle lives in each year they have a talent show and Danny enters with his hypnotism act. When it is his turn he asked for four volunteers.

Moments passed and still no one volunteered. It felt like the longer it went on, the less likely he was to get someone to put their hand up. I realised that I was gritting my teeth and holding my breath.

And still Danny looked around the audience, and there was a moment where the stage persona seemed on the brink of slipping.

No Danny, I thought, don’t bottle it.

It was only then that I realised my hand had raised itself above my head. I had been thinking about how maybe I should put it up, but I hadn’t reached a proper decision yet.

The three others that volunteered were a young  girl and two adults. The girl was called lilly and the adults Mr Peterson and Mrs O’Donnell. After they get hypnotised they wake up and find that everyone is frozen will their hands in fists by their sides. They walk around and find that every human has frozen and that the animals are not.

But it wasn’t time that had stopped. Things were moving. It was only the people that were stopped. There were flies buzzing around; wasps crawling around the drinking holes of soft drink cans; clouds of midges swirling in the summer air. A cool breeze blew, carrying sweet wrappers and other discarded items. Mrs winifred’s Italian greyhound, bambi, was walking around, looking lost.

In the end they find out why everyone froze and why the animals didn’t freeze.

This book is a very good mystery novel. I find that it is one of those books that you get stuck into and don’t want to stop reading because it drags you in and really want to find out want happened to the rest on the town. I am not one of those people that is really interested in mystery books but I really enjoyed it. It is one the best books I have read I think you will enjoy it to.
